Our day-trip to the quaint little town of Glen Rose proved to be a fun one! If you've never been to Glen Rose, and are going to be in the area it is a must see! Glen Rose is located at a picturesque spot on the Paluxy River, where it merges with the mighty Brazos River. GR is characterized by an awesome limestone courthouse, a cute little downtown square, with several great antique and boutique shops with Texas charm, a fabulous historical park, Dinosaur Valley(yes, there are REAL dinosaur tracks preserved in the limestone river bed of the Paluxy), Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, and Glen Lake Encampment(we have taken our 6th graders on a field trip to GL for the last 4 years). It is also the home of THE PROMISE - a musical drama/re-enactment of the life of Jesus, which takes place in an outdoor amphitheater that overlooks Glen Rose. One of our favorite restaurants is also located in GR, a wonderful BBQ joint known as THE RANCHHOUSE! YUM!
We did come upon a sad sight while driving through town - a daming project taking place on the Paluxy River right in the middle of one of the prettiest stretches of the stream. Thought its not the Brazos I'm sure John Graves had a few choice words - or thoughts at least on the issue! Sad - they are ruining a beautiful spot! Joey and I were both just sick over it!
